A Note From The Editor
Happy start of Fall! My favourite time of year. I love pulling out all the knits and jackets in my closet, I feel inspired in the kitchen, and I love the mix of urges to begin hibernating more while also still enjoying time spent outside. It’s truly the best of both worlds, in my opinion!
A focus in our house this season is strengthening the self-care rituals and healthy habits. Last winter was really difficult on my mental health so I want to be incredibly dialled into the habits that help me feel my best before we hit the cold months. When it comes to caring for our mental health, I’m a firm believer that being proactive is the best approach. It’s a lot more difficult to make our way back to feeling good than it is to make intentional choices that help us remain in a grounded place.
I plan to write a blog post on this topic in the coming weeks because I’d love to help you strengthen your own self-care plan as we move into the Fall/Winter.
My Fall Faves
Currently Loving: this sweater.
Currently Reading: This book on the origin story of Instagram (really enjoying it!). Also reading this book on how to be a better writer, felt like it was time to brush up on those skills.
Currently Watching: Reality tv, baby! September means the return of a whole bunch of good ones. Our favourites are Dancing With The Stars and Bachelor In Paradise. Nothing better than to end the day on a light note.
Currently Doing: 16 minute unguided meditations using the Insight Timer followed by a walk with Johnny and Soph every morning before work.
Currently Moving: in the form of daily walks and strength training (following a program from the Sweat App).
Currently Cooking: allllll the soups! Should we do a Soup Series on the ol gram?? Let me know below or send me a dm if you’re into that idea!
Here’s what to expect on the blog for Fall.
As I mentioned above, I’m really dialling in the healthy rituals in preparation for the colder months. I’ve been reflecting lots on how we can be proactive in caring for our mental health rather than being reactive and trying to figure it out once we’re already struggling. I’m going to write more about this in the weeks to come but I’d love to share ideas with this community to help you dial in your own self-care and mentally prepare for the time of the year when many struggle more.
You can also expect to see an uptick in recipe content, as Fall is my most inspired season in the kitchen. Football Sunday’s are a big deal in our house, which means my homebody self gets to lean into the nesting. Sunday’s are always my favourite day, because they’re basically dedicated to my hobbies while Johnny watches the games.
On the note of nesting, I also plan to bring my office space to life over the next few weeks. It’s felt a bit meh to me, as I couldn’t make up my mind on the direction to take it. But I think I’ve finally figured out a plan and I’m excited to bring it to life and bring you along!
Thanksgiving is also on my radar, I’ll be sharing some inspiration for that holiday in the coming weeks. As always, please let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see but I’m thinking some tablescape inspo is in order!
