I’m a firm believer that a pickled garnish makes most dishes better – whether it’s tacos, burgers, pizza, salads, chilis – the list could go on and on. This recipe for pickled red onions is a staple in our house. I almost always have it in the fridge and love that it’s so easy to whip up whenever we don’t. This took less than 10 minutes to do. I made these to put on top of our homemade pizza tonight for date night and I can’t wait to dig in!
What You’ll Need For Pickled Red Onions
- ½ small red onion
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup white vinegar
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
How To Do It
Slice onion very thin and pack tightly into a glass jar with a lid (I have and love these ones!). Heat the water to boiling. Mix with the vinegars, salt, and sugar. Stir until the salt and sugar are dissolved. Pour the hot liquid over the onions, covering them completely. Close the lid and give the jar a shake. Refrigerate onions overnight or leave out on counter to pickle quicker (2ish hours). Store tightly sealed in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
Enjoy! Xx
