I know Spring is here when I start to get the itch for everything to be decluttered, paired down and deep cleaned. This year, I thought it would be a fun idea to put together a Spring Clean challenge for us to go through together! I created the above template for a 14-day challenge and those who are subscribed to my newsletter will get an added little contest/giveaway connected to this challenge. You can sign up here if you want to get all the details sent to your inbox! I’m going to be starting the challenge on Wednesday, April 6th, feel free to join me in starting that day if you would like to!
How To Approach The Spring Clean Challenge
You can approach the Spring Clean challenge however you choose. Feel free to follow along with me as I share the tasks in stories over on Instagram. Or you can pick and choose the ones you want to do or even supplement some of the tasks for something of your own if that feels best. Rather than the challenge being strictly house cleaning, I also added in some tasks that are focused on mental clarity. I think that’s such a huge part of feeling well in our spaces.
I can’t help but laugh that I’m hosting a Spring Clean challenge because truth be told, I have not always been a neat and tidy person. I actually think most of my family and friends were shocked when I began sharing our home and life on social media because I was such a messy person prior to about 4 years ago. When Johnny and I bought our first house, it’s like something switched in me and I became absolutely obsessed with creating a home and life I loved. Between the two of us, Johnny is definitely the cleaner person but over the last few years, I’ve come a long way and actually find some cleaning tasks feel relaxing/enjoyable (definitely not all of them, though).
Caring For Our Homes Is Caring For Ourselves
I now view cleaning as a form of caring for myself because I’ve witnessed all of the mental and emotional benefits that come from my space feeling orderly, clean, and decluttered. Home is an extension of us, and it’s something within our control to put care and attention into. I wrote a whole blog post about how caring for our home is a form of caring for ourselves, you can read that post here.
If you’re planning to do the Spring Clean challenge, drop me a note and let me know! Now let’s get cleaning!
