Happy May! It’s safe to say this is one of the strangest Spring-times any of us have experienced. Usually the world is opening up and blooming right about now, but we continue to do the opposite – staying inside and away from others. Despite that, I’m trying to make the most of it and am looking for those simple bright spots in every day.
This has been a good challenge to really push myself to stay creative, inspired and positive and I actually think it’s been a helpful practice. I’ve learned a lot about myself over the last couple months and I hope to bring those lessons along into whatever comes next.
A Few New-To-Me Discoveries
With all this extra time spent at home, I’ve been motivated to learn new things and recently discovered Skillshare. There are so many amazing courses and the first couple months are free (I’m happy to share someone’s code I found if you want – just let me know!). I’ve been taking some courses on blogging, content creation, and photography. I also want to do a watercolour class and some basic graphic design courses.
Another recent find was Melissa Wood Health workouts. She offers a free 7-day trial so you can give it a shot without committing but I was hooked after day 1. No equipment is needed for her workouts and they are the perfect combination of energizing and challenging. She does Pilates-style and yoga workouts that are low impact and they are supposed to help build strength, muscle definition and long/lean lines. I started my day with her workouts this week and it felt amazing
Creating
As the seasons change, I feel so inspired to experiment in the kitchen. All the different produce starts to roll into the grocery store, grilling becomes an option and I crave different flavours and textures of food. I really want to try this recipe and this recipe.
I’m also excited to begin working on a newsletter to share with you each week. I want it to be a mix of things that have inspired me, products I’m eyeing/loving, meal or cocktail recipes from the week that were a hit, and other things I know you would love. I’m still working on the details but think it would be fun to show up more regularly for you all and share a happy moment together (I know we can all use more bright spots). There’s a little box on the home page of the blog where you can leave your email if you want to join the newsletter list or just feel free to send me a message and I’ll sign you up!
May Agenda
Lots of time will be spent in the backyard – planting my garden (I’m doing a potager garden this year – a mix of vegetables, herbs and cut flowers!), happy hour on the patio, cozy evenings by the fire wrapped in blankets. There will also be lots of sunshine walks, reading, new recipes, cocktails (want to try this one!), and at home date nights. Now that the sun rises so early, I’m motivated to implement a more regular morning routine (post to come!) that leaves me feeling energized and ready for the day. So that will be happening this month too.
