Good morning, lovelies!
Another Sunday morning is here and this time it’s smack-dab in the middle of a long weekend. It’s a cold and rainy forecast here all weekend long so the usual outdoor activities are on hold and we’re hunkering down at home for a cozy few days at home. Sometimes weather like this for a few days in a row can get me down but I’m trying my best to view it as a chance to rest and get some things – productive AND indulgent – done here at home.
On the agenda here is a bit of organizing (I want to tackle my closet and the bathroom drawers), I’ve found myself annoyed lately by how unorganized they are and am finally going to deal with that this weekend. I’m also going to have a little at-home spa-session – complete with a salt soak, face mask, and a mani/pedi. And I plan to experiment a bit with some cocktail recipes to share on the blog.
I know for us with things still in full lockdown-mode, it can be easy to slip into a space of feeling sorry for ourselves and all that we are “missing out” on but my mindset throughout all of these lockdowns has been to let me myself feel whatever I feel, whenever I feel it AND also to try and be very intentional to seek out and take notice of the simplest pleasures. That’s always how I’ve tried to approach things but even moreso these days when it is so easy to get frustrated/annoyed/self-pitying.
I hope that whatever the long weekend holds and however you’re feeling today, that you know your feelings are real and valid. Sending you all the love!
Xx
This Week’s Things of Note
- I picked up this Laniege lip sleeping mask during the Sephora sale and it will forever be in my evening skincare rotation. I have the berry flavour and love it. The tiniest bit goes a long way and I anticipate the little jar will last me at least a year. You wake up with lips that feel hydrated and plump (which is not generally the case for me – usually they’re pretty dry. I highly recommend this stuff!
- When I came across this house on the internet, I stopped dead in my tracks. This is the home of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis and it is an absolute dream. I’m obsessed with the chandelier in the living room and the wood elements all throughout – the modern meets rustic vibes are too good.
- I shared a blog post this week answering a bunch of the questions I had received about our build process – why we chose to build vs. buy, if the pandemic has impacted things, how we chose finishes and a lot more other questions. You can read that here.
- I finished the book Transcendent Kingdom this week and it was incredible. I think it’s my favourite book so far this year. It covers so many complex topics with such poise – family, addiction, science, faith, racism. Highly recommend.
- Rugs USA is having a Memorial Day sale all this weekend and the prices are goooood! For my Canadian readers, from what I know of this brand, duty fees are quite uncommon. I’ve ordered from them and did not get charged duties and no one else I know of has been either. Obviously I can’t guarantee that because those things are so unpredictable but the consensus seems to be that most people who order from Canada don’t get charged them. A couple of my favourite rugs right now are this one and this one.
That’s all for today, friends!
