This year, NYE is going to be a quiet night in for most. That being said, it doesn’t mean that reflecting and celebrating need to be bypassed. Put on some cozy loungewear, turn up a relaxing playlist and put together a snack spread to pick away at all evening long. One of our favourite ways to make an evening at home feel special is to put together a charcuterie board – they feel fancy but are honestly so simple. And even more so since I’ve put together the shopping list for you already.
What You’ll Need:
- Some type of board or a large serving platter
- 2-3 cheeses – I prefer one hard, like a smoked cheddar or gouda and one soft, like a brie or goat cheese
- 2-3 meats – e.g. pepperoni, salami, prosciutto
- 2 types of crackers – I generally go for one cracker that is quite plain for one option and then a grainy/flavoured cracker for the other.
- A mix of berries/fruit – e.g. blueberries, raspberries, pomegranate seeds, grapes, chopped apples, figs.
- 2 types of nuts/seeds – e.g. pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts
- Olives
- Jelly – my favourites are a spicy jelly and a fig jelly
- Chocolate pieces – I just break apart a bar or use leftover Christmas chocolates
To Put Together the Charcuterie Board
This is the fun part! I always start by placing the cheese on opposite sides of the board. From there, I add in the crackers and meat (also opposite sides) and any little serving bowls that will hold the olives and jelly. After that, I just start to fill in the gaps with the smaller, “filler” items (berries, nuts/seeds, chocolate). Don’t be afraid to pile things high – I like for everything on a charcuterie board to be touching and very little board showing.
That’s it! Hope you enjoy and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones! Xx
