Hi hi! I wanted to pop on tonight and make note of a few things that have been on my mind and boosting the mood around here. The world is in a strange, unprecedented time right now but despite all of that, I’m trying to focus on the simple pleasures and the little things in life that bring joy. More and more each day, I view our home as a literal safe haven. A space that is ours – one that is warm and cozy. We have worked hard to make our home one where we love to be and so rather than resent the fact that we are spending (much) more time here than usual, I’m trying to maintain a perspective of gratitude for all that we have. I thought it might be nice to share a few of the ways we’ve found joy in our home as we go into a new week. In case you need a little boost too!
Candles & Oils
I have been working from home the last few weeks and have been on a major scent kick. I don’t think anything relaxes me quicker than the perfect scent. In the mornings, I have been diffusing oils in my Vitruvi diffuser – my go to scents have been Pacific (bergamot, amyris, basil, lavender, eucalyptus), Retreat (grapefruit, palma rosa, eucalyptus) and Clean Sweep (pine, lemon, clove). In the evenings, I’ve been lighting candles all over the house. You know those nice candles that you always save for that “special occasion”? I think now qualifies as that occasion…
A couple of candles I’ve been loving lately are these and these.
My New Playlist | Feel Good
Nothing boosts my mood more than a solid playlist. Whether you’re working, cooking, cleaning, getting ready for the day or just sipping a glass of wine at the end of the evening. Life is better with a soundtrack. This is a playlist I put together of some songs that I’m loving right now that always make me feel good – hence the title.
Movement
Working from home all day and then spending all evening at home, sometimes I feel like the only moving I get in is walking to the fridge or the bathroom. I’ve been trying to build in little ways to move my body throughout the day – walking Sophie at lunch time, getting in a cardio workout in the garage after the work day is done, doing a yoga video (really like these ones).
Rituals
Even though the pace of life is so much slower, I have still tried to maintain a sense of normalcy and routine by incorporating our usual rituals. Waking up in the morning and getting ready; reading before bed with a glass of wine; (at home) date nights on the weekend evenings, making brunch on the weekend mornings. These rituals seriously give me life and are something I crave and look forward to every single day.
Seeking Inspiration
I have felt strangely inspired lately. I think it’s because I’ve been so focused on finding the good in the midst of all the scary stuff happening in the world. Focus on creating and finding things that leave you feeling inspired. Some of the sources I find that leave me feeling inspired are reading, listening to podcasts, listening to music, scrolling Pinterest, trying new recipes, and following along with other creatives who are continuing to share what they are passionate about.
Blooms and Plants
I have always been passionate about flowers and greenery throughout my home but never more than I am right now. With all my days being spent in the four walls of our house, a vase of fresh blooms feel like a worthwhile investment. Every time I get a glimpse of them, it brings feelings of joy and happiness. A lot of florists are still doing deliveries so that’s one option. The other is grabbing some cheap flowers from the grocery store whenever you go to stock up.
Stay safe and stay positive, all!
