I cannot believe how quickly the months are passing by. It feels like summer was over in a blink and winter will be here before we know it. October is one of my favourite months – it’s so aesthetically rich with all the dark colours popping up and the theme is literally ‘be as cozy as possibly’, at least in our household. If I’m being honest, the last month has been a stressful one – both personally and also collectively. There is so much going on in the world and I’ve been craving healthy escapism. I think sometimes it is good for us to turn our mind off and take breaks from the constant influx of information we are hearing. The constant flow of social media, news, etc. definitely takes a toll and I’ve been feeling that this last month.
October Agenda
This month, I want to be intentional to soak up the days and the crisp fall weather. Continuing my morning walks with Soph, experimenting with new soup and chowder recipes, swapping out all the summer clothes in my closet for the chunky knits (my favourite!), and working my way through my list of movies that feel nostalgic this time of year. I would also like to be mindful of how much time I spend online – less scrolling < more reading. I know my creativity takes a hit when I’m scrolling too much so this month I am aiming to create more, read more, do more that fills me up. I’m revisiting this book because it is such an amazing perspective on creativity and fostering that in yourself. I also want to make a few small swaps in our home to bring in a bit more autumn/winter feels. I will be searching for some throw pillows that add richness and dimension to our living room area and will also bring a few other small, seasonal touches (shared more about my strategy for decor during the transition to fall here if you want to read!).
Inspired By
First things that come to mind – all the changing fall colours, the crisp air in the mornings, this moody playlist, reading in bed on weekend mornings, knits and layers, the stack of books on my nightstand, and the random urges to bake I keep having.
Blog wise – I have so many interior- and wellness-related post ideas that I can’t wait to work on. I’ve realized how BOTH of those are areas I’m passionate about and that combining them could create something really special and unique. I’ve been reflecting a lot on how to best use this space, the content I want to be sharing and what my “niche” is and while I feel like I have not had any major “aha” moments or even direction shifts, I do have more clarity and focus than I’ve ever had around the kind of space I want this little corner of the internet to be. I’ve been reflecting a lot on how to show up here most authentically and how to build a community – exciting things to come!
