April is here. The month when the winter chill starts to roll back and make room for the spring awakening. The snow starts to melt, the temps start to climb (let’s be honest though, we’re still very bundled up here in Saskatchewan) and hope that winter is over as Spring starts to creep in. This April feels a little different than most. While the above is still true – there are more days spent at home than usual and the world is waking up a bit slower with all that is going on.
All that being said – I still plan to soak up the feelings of Spring as much as possible. I’m looking forward to more fresh blooms in the house as they come into season and will be planning out my backyard garden over the next couple of weeks. Last year was the first one I attempted, and it was mostly one giant bust, but this year’s my year! I can feel it. I’m going to take what I learned last summer and put that into practice this time.
We’re also planning some special date nights in: one will be Italian themed – think cooking homemade pasta together, Italian music echoing through the house and dinner by candlelight. Another weekend we’re planning to order in from one of our favourite restaurants and treat ourselves. I’ve found setting a weekend date at the beginning of the week gives us something to look forward to all week long. There’s no reason you can’t plan in advance for an evening at home.
We’ve been trying to get outside to take Soph for a walk as often as we can. I find this breaks up the days and feeling the fresh air on my face is good for the soul. I love when you share with me the things that are bringing you joy – I always say that joy and gratitude beget joy and gratitude. It’s contagious. So as difficult as these days may feel, keep seeking those beautiful moments and make sure you stop and savour them.
