Happy July – a bit late! We have been having the best time lately – truly soaking up every moment and making the most of days off and weekends. We both took some vacation days from work this last month but because of the limitations around travel, we have been doing so many new-to-us activities around our little city – a “stay-cation” of sorts. And I must say, it’s been so so enjoyable! I have been “online” much less than usual and have been a little bit quieter on the blog as well because I’m trying to savour every moment. Saskatchewan summers are short and I just haven’t had it in me to sit at a computer when I could be outside enjoying the beautiful days.
Inspired By
Lately, I’ve been so inspired by the simple pleasures that come with summer. Morning walks with Soph before work, driving with the windows down and good tunes blasting, evenings sitting around the fire cuddled up in blankets, sweaty glasses full of crisp rosé, BBQ’d everything, waking up to the sun streaming into our bedroom, evenings at the golf course, linen sheets, cotton candy skies at sunset. It’s honestly been such a sweet summer and I’m trying to soak up every moment with gratitude.
July Agenda
I’m hoping this month will look similar to last month with even more days spent outside. I have a goal of finding and sharing a recipe for Italian Spritzers on the blog – we had hoped to be planning a Europe trip in the next few months but it’s looking like we will have to live vicariously through wining and dining like Italians at home. I’m also doing a DIY headboard for our spare room in the basement that I’m planning to share with you all. This month, I’ve felt motivated to try and be more active in daily life – I’ve been aiming for 10k steps each day as a minimum. I’ve been walking at least twice a day and it’s felt amazing. This month, I want to get into a better fitness routine in addition to the walking because I always feel so much better when I find my groove with exercise. I also want to be more intentional about planning groceries around weekend trips to the farmer’s market this month, now that they’re back up and running. I’m planning to order these bags to reduce waste while shopping.
I hope you’re finding ways to make your summer months feel special, even if it looks a little different than expected. We could all use a little extra warmth these days. Xx
