One of the most requested gift guides I received this year was for a roundup of small shops – Canadian ones in particular. I think one special part of this crazy COVID year has been an increasing recognition of the need to support each other and that has majorly impacted the ways we shop. I don’t remember a year where makers and creators were celebrated in the ways they have been and I think that is such a positive shift for our society.
I’m sharing 9 brands with you for this roundup – each one is something I use in my home and genuinely love. I’m confident in the quality of these shops and am sure if you purchase from them, you’ll be happy you did. So without further ado!

This is a small shop located in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Their specialty is curating small-batch home goods and the pieces in their shop are truly special. From kitchen goods, to bathroom, to statement decor pieces – you’ll love browsing their selection on their site. They ship North America wide too so it’s not just exclusive to my Canadians! 🙂

This small pillow shop is owned and run by Karlene and is based out of Edmonton, Alberta. There is a wide range of options in this shop for all tastes – from the loveliest neutrals (my fave!) to bolder print options. She truly has the most beautiful selection.

This small jewelry shop is based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and has pieces that are timeless and others that are more of a statement. I recently picked up these hoops and have been wearing them every single day. The entire Golden Hour collection is amazing – I’d love to pick up a few more pieces in the coming days.

This is hand’s down one of my favourite small shops. They are based out of Vancouver, British Columbia and have THE most beautiful dishware. I have their pasta bowls, a serving bowl and their new mug collection is on it’s way to me right now (can’t wait). I plan to slowly replace all our dishes with Fable. Their artisan dishware is made in Portugal – it’s hearty, sturdy and so so stunning. This would make an amazing gift (to someone on your list or for yourself).

During this time of being homebound more than usual, has there ever been a more fitting time to invest in quality loungewear? I don’t think so. Smash + Tess are based out of British Columbia and make THE comfiest rompers in a number of different styles. I have one of the original black sleeveless rompers and absolutely love it. It’s comfy and the perfect outfit for weekends at home.

This is easily my favourite small home goods shop to browse. They are based out of Manitoba and their curation of pieces is top notch. They have a massive selection of kitchen, bath, textile, decor, living and baby items and each piece is beautiful + functional. I have a candle wall sconce and it is one of my most cherished home decor pieces. I will keep it forever.

This is another shop based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. This is a newer brand who makes the most stunning throw blankets. I love their entire collection and have added two to our home – they are now the throws I reach for every time. They also have a new line of mini throws for your littles that would be the perfect addition to a nursery. Each blanket is cozy, beautiful and high quality. The price tag on these blankets is a bit on the higher end but I know for a fact that every single purchase supports the owner – she does everything herself (supplying, packaging, shipping, marketing – truly a one woman production).

If you have spent much time on this blog or follow me on Instagram, you know that I am obsessed with all things Vitruvi. Their stone diffusers are the prettiest diffusers I’ve come across and I seriously move mine from one room to the next. Hoping to add one of their new – ‘Move’ diffusers to my collection soon. I love so many of their scents but my favourites are: Pacific, Boost, Retreat, & Nightcap. Most of their product is 30% off for Black Friday and once that sale ends, you can use my code “Debbie20” for 20% off (the codes cannot be combined). If you’ve been on the fence about Vitruvi, take the leap – you will not regret it.

This last brand is one that I think is such a cool idea. This one is exclusive to my Manitoba & Saskatchewan readers so pay attention if you’re from those provinces. Ivie offers a selection of three plants and artisanal pots that will ship directly to your doorstep. All you have to do is select which one you want, order and it comes all planted and ready to thrive in your home. I have a bird’s nest fern I got from Ivie at the beginning of the summer and it’s one of my favourite plants! Such a great idea for a small shop and would make an amazing gift to that plant lover in your life (or again, for yourself !).
