The last little while, I’ve not been feeling my best and I know it’s because my daily habits haven’t been the greatest. Between multiple moves and life transitions, the healthy rituals fell to the side and I have been really feeling it. At first, my mindset was “I’ll get back on track in the new year” but then my perspective quickly shifted as I thought “why not now”? I think sometimes we wait until it feels like the “perfect time” for change and in our society, the new year is a time where there’s a heavy focus on that. But why wait? Why finish the year out on a not-so-great note, when we could make the changes we desire right now?
When I mentioned this on Instagram, so many of you resonated and were interested in doing a wellness challenge together to finish out the year strong. So here we are! Doing it together.
Here’s how it’s going to work!
Starting Nov. 8th, we’ll be starting a six week challenge. It will be made up of three weekly challenges that will last the entire 6 weeks + one *bonus* challenge each week that will change as the weeks progress. Every Saturday, I will share the *bonus* challenge for the week ahead and that will begin on Monday. The bonuses are optional but strongly encouraged and they vary in type – physical, mental, emotional or relational health focused.
Here are the three weekly challenges:
One: Move your body 5 days a week. Any intentional movement counts! This could be walking, running, yoga, pilates, strength training, spin, a sport – literally anything as long as it’s intentional.
Two: No alcohol from Monday-Thursday. A couple of people have asked about substitutions for this one if they don’t drink. I would recommend either committing to do the bonus challenge the whole time and/or coming up with an alternative challenge for yourself. A few ideas: no processed foods or junk food from Monday-Thursday or be in bed by a certain time those days (neither of those suggestions are bonus challenges)
Three: Drink 64oz (8 cups) of water per day.
Bonus Challenge for Week 1: Send a text to a friend sharing what you appreciate about them. *All additional challenges will be shared on Instagram and will be saved in the story highlight “Wellness Challenge” from here out!
Lastly, I’d love to see little glimpses from those of you who are doing the challenge with me! There were over one hundred who said they were going to participate and I think it would be amazing for us to be reminded that we’re doing this alongside others. If you feel up to it, go ahead and tag me in posts/stories on your own Instagram and I’ll re-share and save to the Wellness Challenge highlight to encourage others in the challenge!
And remember, this is a challenge to get us to be more mindful of how we are caring for ourselves. If you miss a day for whatever reason, be kind to yourself. Don’t write the whole week off because of a single day.
